Etymology: < German Scholzit (H. Strunz 1948: see H. Strunz Mineralogische Tabellen (ed. 2, 1949) 164, and in Fortschritte der Mineral. (1950) 27 31) < the name of Adolf Scholz (1894–1950), German mineral collector and industrialist + German -it -ite suffix¹.
