1. Photography. Any of various processes for producing photographic prints or photoengravings in which one or more screens are used to filter light in order to produce a particular effect; (in later use) spec. one in which light is filtered through a mosaic screen during exposure in order to produce colour photographs. Now historical.Frequently with distinguishing word.
