Etymology: < Italian †scrinerario (1668 in the passage translated in quot. 1670, or earlier), probably an alteration (after words in -erario , e.g. camerario chamberlain: see chamberer n.) of scriniario scriniary n.; compare -ary suffix¹. Compare slightly later scriniary n.

Obsolete. rare.

A person employed to maintain archives and draw up documents; an archivist. Cf. scriniary n., proto-scrinerary n. at proto- comb. form 1c.
