Etymology: < post-classical Latin seriatim in due order, successively (frequently from 11th cent. in British and continental sources) < classical Latin seriēs series n. + -ātim , suffix forming adverbs, after e.g. gradātim gradatim adv. Compare earlier seriatly adv. N.E.D. (1912) gives only the pronunciation (sīəriēi·tim) /sɪərɪˈeɪtɪm/.
