Etymology: < French sério-comique, adjective (1748 or earlier as adjective; the use as noun in sense ‘serio-comic actor or performer’ is apparently not paralleled in French) < sério- serio- comb. form + comique comic adj. Compare earlier serio-comic adj., serio-comical adj.
