A. n.
A native or inhabitant of Senegambia, a name given to the region surrounding the Senegal and Gambia rivers in West Africa (cf. Senegal n., Gambia fever n.); (U.S. colloquial) an African American.Senegambia was revived as the name of a short-lived confederation of Senegal and Gambia (1982–9), formed for military and trade purposes.
