blandv.1

Forms: Also blonden.
Origin: A word inherited from Germanic.
Etymology: Common Germanic strong verb: Old English blandan , blǫndan , past tense bléond , participle blanden = Old Saxon blandan , Old High German blantan , Old Norse (and Swedish) blanda , Gothic blandan , baibland , blandans , to mix. Only once exemplified in Old English, and in Middle English superseded by blend v.2 The two later instances here may be accidental; if genuine, they perhaps represent the Old Norse rather than the Old English verb.
Obsolete.
transitive. To mix, intermingle, blend.
