In later use: septicaemia (blood-borne infection) resulting in the formation of abscesses in locations distant from the primary site of infection. ΚΠ 1849 Brit. & Foreign Medico-chirurg. Rev. 4 356 It is rare to find the putrid elements acting uncombined with unaltered pus, and..the resulting phenomena are then of a complex character (septico-pyæmia). 1886 Arch.
