bonus scheme
bonus scheme n. (a) a system whereby a life assurance company pays a share of the company's annual profits to policyholders in addition to the sum assured; a with-profits scheme (cf. with-profits at with prep. 24d) (obsolete); (b) a system of payment whereby an employee receives extra money or benefits based on how well he or she performs, typically in relation to company profits.
