Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: acetic adj., diamine n.
Etymology: < ace- (in acetic adj.) + diamine n., after German Acediamin (A. Strecker 1857, in Ann. der Chem. u. Pharm. 103 328).
Chemistry. Now rare.
An unstable amine obtained by decomposition of acetamide. Also called methyl methenyl diamine.Formula: CH3C(NH)(NH)2.
