transitive. To make (someone or something) Chinese in character or form; to bring under the cultural, economic, or political influence of China. Also: to borrow (a word, phrase, etc.) into Chinese; to render (a foreign word) in Chinese characters. Cf. sinify v., earlier sinicized adj.
