Etymology: < slay v.1 + -er suffix1; the compound manslayer n. is found a little earlier. Compare Middle Dutch and Dutch slager, Middle Low German slegere (Low German släger), Old High German slagari and slahari (German schläger).
One who slays or kills. Also in figurative context.
