Chemistry.

Any of the series of fifteen elements of the periodic table from actinium (atomic number 89) to lawrencium (atomic number 103), inclusive. In earliest use attributive.All of the actinides are radioactive metals, the heavier members being very unstable and not of natural occurrence. While corresponding to the lanthanides in some respects, chemically the actinides show greater diversity and resemble the transition metals.
