Macropædia XII. 761/2 The lower fungi (i.e., more primitive) produce spores in sporangia, which are saclike sporophores whose entire cytoplasmic contents cleave into spores, called sporangiospores. Sporangiospores are either naked and flagellated (zoospores) or walled and nonmotile (aplanospores).
