Etymology: < Spanish bocací cotton stuff used for lining, (also of its French form boccasin (Cotgrave), now boucassin), < Turkish bōḥāsī or bōghāsī cotton cloth (Kieffer el Bianchi).
‘A kind of fine Buckeram, that hath a resemblance of taffata, and is much used for lining.’ Cotgrave.
