释义 | starthistlen. Any of various herbaceous, thistle-like plants of the genus Centaurea (family Asteraceae), having yellow or purple flowers and tough, sharp spines on the phyllaries, esp. C. calcitrapa or C. solstitialis; (occasionally) any plant of this genus. Also with distinguishing word. Starthistles are native to the northern hemisphere but are now widely naturalized and regarded as invasive, noxious weeds in regions where they have been introduced.
