Etymology: < classical Latin statiōnārius stationary n., in post-classical Latin senses.In quot. 1652 at sense 1 after early modern German stationirer (German Stationierer ; < stationieren < classical Latin statiōn- , statiō station n.). N.E.D. (1915) gives the pronunciation as (stēi·ʃənăɹ) /ˈsteɪʃənə(r)/.
Christian Church. Obsolete.
