Etymology: < post-classical Latin statu quo (also in statu quo : see in statu quo adv.) + -ism suffix. Compare status quo n., and earlier statu quo-ite n., statuquoitism n. at statu quo-ite n. Derivatives.
Chiefly humorous. Now rare.
Partiality for, or inclination to maintain, the existing state of affairs.
