Etymology: < scientific Latin status lymphaticus (1861 or earlier) < classical Latin status status n. + lymphāticus lymphatic adj.
Medicine (now historical).
Generalized enlargement or prominence of lymphoid tissue, esp. in children; a syndrome characterized by this.Often regarded as a cause of or contributing factor in sudden death, esp. when accompanied by enlargement of the thymus.
