Etymology: < star n.1 + shine n.1, after moonshine n., sunshine n.Apparently re-formed in the first half of the 19th cent. Compare Middle Low German stērnenschīn, German Sternenschein (late 14th or early 15th cent.), Sternschein (1572 or earlier).
