The repetitive performance of certain physical movements or vocalizations, as a behaviour seen in persons with neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism; = self-stimming n. at self- prefix 6. Cf. self-stimulation n. 3.This behaviour is thought to serve a variety of functions, such as calming and expression of feelings.
