Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: supercilious adj., -ity suffix.
Etymology: < supercilious adj. + -ity suffix; compare -osity suffix. Compare post-classical Latin superciliositas (14th cent. in a British source; 16th cent. in a continental source).
Now rare (chiefly U.S. in later use).
Superciliousness. Also: an instance of this; a supercilious attitude, demeanour, etc.Apparently unattested between the mid 17th and late 19th centuries.
