Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly a borrowing from Latin. Partly formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: Latin suppositionalitas ; suppositional adj., -ity suffix.
Etymology: Partly (i) < post-classical Latin suppositionalitas (1648 in the passage translated in quot. 1649 at sense 1; < suppositionalis suppositional adj. + classical Latin -tās (see -ty suffix1); compare -ity suffix); and partly (ii) < suppositional adj. + -ity suffix. Compare earlier suppositality n.
