Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin superdūcere.
Etymology: < classical Latin superdūcere to bring home as successor to a former wife, in post-classical Latin also to bring or spread over (Vetus Latina), to add, to add over and above (early 3rd cent. in Tertullian) < super- super- prefix + dūcere to lead (see duct n.). Compare later superinduce v.
Now rare.
