Designating an endocrine gland situated close to the upper or anterior pole of the kidney (now usually in suprarenal gland); = adrenal adj. 1.Although glandula suprarenalis and suprarenal gland remain the names of this organ in formal anatomical terminology, adrenal gland is now more commonly used.
