Etymology: < super- prefix + gene n.2 In sense 1 after German Obergen ( J. von Uexküll Bausteine einer biologischen Weltanschauung (1913) 216).

1. In the terminology of J. von Uexküll: any of the hypothetical higher-level ordering factors supposed to regulate and coordinate the activity of other genes in a developing embryo. disused. rare.

Of an ore or mineral: deposited or enriched by precipitation from mineral-rich water percolating downwards; involving or involved in deposition or enrichment of this kind.
