(a) any of various tropical American plants of the family Sapindaceae, as species of Paullinia, Serjania, and Cardiospermum; (b) any of various plants of the family Rhamnaceae, as Berchemia volubilis of Central America, B. scandens of southern North America, and Ventilago viminalis of Australia.
