Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin superaddere.
Etymology: < classical Latin superaddere to add on < super- super- prefix + addere add v.

a. transitive. To add over and above; to add to what has already been added; to put on as a further addition. Often used merely to intensify the meaning of add: to add to what is already present.
