Etymology: A name formed < brag n.1 after the analogy of Italian augmentatives in -occhio, -occio, given by Spenser to his personification of Brag, Vainglory. (Formerly also pronounced /-kɪəʊ/, which was perhaps Spenser's usage.)1590 E. Spenser Faerie Queene ii. iii. sig. O6v Argt.
