1904 Philadelphia Inquirer 9 Oct. iii. 1/1 The widely heralded taxametric carriages, for which one pays according to the distance traveled, are to disappear, but in name only. After a profound discussion experiologists have decided that the word ‘taxametric’ is incorrectly formed and should be taximetric.
