Etymology: < tele- comb. form + -logue comb. form.Compare the following earlier instance, which shows a borrowing of French télélogue , thélélogue , denoting a tower which displayed messages in giant letters (1798; < télé- tele- comb. form + -logue -logue comb. form):1798 Morning Chron. 8 Aug. The Tower of London will be a very proper place to make an experiment of the new French invention the Telelogue.
Obsolete.
A telephone call, a conversation on the telephone. Cf. telepheme n. 2.
