单词 telemetrograph
释义

telemetrographn.

Brit. /ˌtɛlᵻˈmɛtrə(ʊ)ɡrɑːf/, /ˌtɛlᵻˈmɛtrə(ʊ)ɡraf/, U.S. /ˌtɛləˈmɛtrəˌɡræf/, /ˌtɛləˈmɛtroʊˌɡræf/
Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: tele- comb. form, metro- comb. form2, -graph comb. form.
Etymology: < tele- comb. form + metro- comb. form2 + -graph comb. form, after French télémétrographe (A. Laussédat 1885, in Compt. rend. hebd. de l'Acad. des Sci. 100 1198).
rare (historical in later use).
An instrument for drawing plans of distant objects or areas, in which an image received through a telescope is refracted by a prism on to a drawing surface. Cf. teleiconograph n. at tele- comb. form 1a.Quot. 1945 is apparently in fact referring to Laussedat's work in the field of photogrammetry, rather than the telemetrograph (compare the dates given in the etymology here and the etymological note at photogrammetry n.).
