Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin termaticus.
Etymology: < scientific Latin termaticus (in arteria termatica (B. G. Wilder, in the work cited in quot. 18851); < ancient Greek τερματ- , τέρμα end, limit (see terminus n.) + classical Latin -icus -ic suffix), after terma, B. G. Wilder's name for the lamina terminalis (see definition; B. G. Wilder 1881, in Science (26 Mar.) 137/1).
Anatomy. Obsolete.
In the terminology of B. G. Wilder: of, relating to, or located in the lamina terminalis (a layer of grey matter forming the anterior boundary of the third ventricle of the brain). Occasionally also as n.: a termatic artery.

1885 B. G. Wilder in New York Med. Jrnl. 28 Mar. 354/2 In Figs. 1 and 3 is represented an apparently unnamed artery which, from its relation to the terma, may be called the termatic.
1885 B. G. Wilder in Jrnl. Nerv. & Mental Dis. 12 348 A few authors represent some short vessels as given off from the place of origin of the termatic.
1896 Trans. Amer. Microsc. Soc. 1895 17 218 A segment similar to this was found in Diemyctylus and recognized as termatic in its origin.
1910 Jrnl. Compar. Neurol. & Psychol. 20 190 The type of termatic artery which arises from the end of the short fusion of the two vessels.
