单词 terrestrity
释义

terrestrityterrestreityn.

Etymology: < medieval Latin terrestritās (a1330 in Du Cange), < terrestris earthly: see -ty suffix1, -ity suffix. Hence French terrestrité, -eté, English terrestrity. In 16th cent. the Latin form was altered to terrestreitās (1533 in Du Cange), apparently after words properly in -eitās, from adjectives in -eus, as terreitās, paneitās, vineitās, etc., and this was imitated by Italian terrestreità (Florio), French terrestréité (Roquefort), English terrestreity. Terrestriety is an individual error.
Obsolete.
The quality or condition of being earthy, or of containing earthy matter; usually concrete earthy matter; applied esp. to gross or residual substances.
