Etymology: < Old French tuel, tuele, etc. (12th cent. in Godefroy) a tube, pipe, tuyere, modern French tuyau , = Middle English tutel n. beak, Spanish tudel, Portuguese tudel, Provençal tudel tube < Romanic type *tūtellum, referred to a German word represented by Middle Dutch tûte, Dutch tuit pipe, nipple, etc., Low German tûte, tüte beak, snout, pipe, etc.: compare also Old Norse túta teat-like prominence, Swedish tut pipe, Danish tud spout. As to ulterior etymology see Franck, s.v. tuit.
Now only dialect.
