Origin: Formed within English, by conversion. Etymon: thrombosis n.
Etymology: < thrombosis n., after thrombosed adj., on the pattern of e.g. diagnose v. (beside diagnosis n.), metamorphose v. (beside metamorphosis n.), etc. Compare German †thrombosiren (1859 or earlier; now thrombosieren).
Medicine.
1. intransitive. Esp. of a blood vessel: to undergo thrombosis; to become occupied or obstructed by a thrombus.
