Etymology: < tit- (in Titan n.1) + -in suffix1, so called on account of its very large size.
Biochemistry.
A giant protein which is found in the sarcomeres of striated muscle tissue; also called connectin.Titin contains more than 27000 amino acids and is believed to fold and unfold to contribute to the elasticity of the sarcomere.
