单词 bowf
释义

bowfn.adj.

Brit. /baʊf/, U.S. /baʊf/, Scottish English /bʌʊf/
Forms: 1900s– bowf, 1900s– bowff.
Origin: Of uncertain origin. Probably an imitative or expressive formation.
Etymology: Origin uncertain. Probably an expressive formation. Perhaps compare Scots regional (north-eastern) bouff large clumsy person (1866 or earlier), or Scots bouff to bark, to cough (1804 or earlier), although there is no obvious semantic connection. Slightly earlier currency is probably implied by bowfing adj.
Scottish colloquial.
