Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin aditus.
Etymology: < classical Latin aditus, literally ‘approach’ (see adit n.). Compare earlier (in different sense) adit n.In aditus ad antrum after scientific Latin aditus ad antrum, literally ‘entrance into the cavity’ (1866 in a German context, or earlier). Compare antrum n.
1. Anatomy and Zoology. The opening of or entrance into a cavity or channel (frequently with distinguishing scientific Latin word or phrase denoting the cavity or channel); esp. (more fully aditus ad antrum) the opening between the tympanic cavity and the mastoid antrum.
