trade board n. chiefly British (now historical) a council regulating conditions of employment in a trade or occupation; spec. any of the statutory bodies established by the Trade Boards Acts of 1909 and 1918, having a membership drawn from workers and employers.Trade boards were succeeded by wages councils in 1945: see wages council n. at wage n.
