Etymology: Probably partly < un- prefix1 + likelihood n., and partly < unlikely adj. + -hood suffix.With sense 2 compare earlier unlikeness n. 1, slightly later likelihood n. 2, and also Old Danish vligelighet, vliggheligheet dissimilarity (Danish uligelighed).
