Etymology: < Greek Τῡϕωνικός, < Τῡϕῶν : see Typhon n.1 and -ic suffix.
1. Having the character of a whirlwind or tornado; tempestuous. (In quots. in allusion to Greek τυϕωνικός in Acts xxvii. 14.)
