单词 | bulimus |
释义 | Bulimusn. Zoology. A (former) genus of land and freshwater snails; (also bulimus) a snail of this genus. The genus Bulimus was originally very large, containing diverse species which have now been assigned to other genera (of various families). The genus name itself was suppressed by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature in 1957, but is still occasionally used, mainly by parasitologists for certain snails which are intermediate hosts for liver flukes (most of which are now considered to be members of the genus Bithynia (family Bithyniidae)).
