Origin: Perhaps a borrowing from French, combined with English elements. Etymons: un- prefix1, French courser , -ed suffix1; un- prefix1, French acorser , -ed suffix1.
Etymology: Perhaps (if the meaning is ‘(of a horse) unridden, untrained’) < un- prefix1 + either Anglo-Norman courser, corser, corsour courser n.2 (compare sense 1a at that entry) or perhaps Anglo-Norman and Middle French acorser to set on course (13th cent. in Old French; < acors accourse n.) + -ed suffix1.
