Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin unisonantia.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin unisonantia (13th cent. in British sources; 1650 in the passage translated in quot. 1653) < unisonus unison adj. + -antia -ance suffix. Compare French unissonance (1709 or earlier), Spanish unisonancia (1812 or earlier), Portuguese unissonância (1789). Compare unisoniety n. and earlier unison n.
Identity of pitch or sound; unison. Hence (in extended use): uniformity.
