Etymology: Probably partly < unobservant adj. + -ly suffix2, and partly (in quot. 1733) < un- prefix1 + observant adj. + -ly suffix2. Compare earlier observantly adv.
Without due attention, inattentively; unperceptively.In quot. 1733 apparently: without being observed, unobservedly (cf. observant adj. 5).
