单词 adecastic
释义

adecasticn.

Forms: 1600s adecasticke.
Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: Greek ἀδέκαστος , -ic suffix.
Etymology: < ancient Greek ἀδέκαστος impartial ( < ἀ- a- prefix6 + δεκάζειν to bribe (see note) + -τος, suffix forming verbal adjectives) + -ic suffix.άζειν was associated by popular etymology in ancient times with δέκα ten (see deca- comb. form), but it is more likely to be a factitive formation from ancient Greek (Ionic, Aeolic, and Doric) δέκεσθαι , corresponding to ancient Greek (Attic) δέχεσθαι to receive (see pandect n.1).
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
A person who acts justly or impartially in any circumstance.
