Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin vōcula.
Etymology: < classical Latin vōcula little or thin voice, soft or gentle utterance, item of vocabulary, word, vowel < vōc- , vōx voice n. + -ula -ula suffix. Compare earlier vocular adj.
A faint final sound produced when articulating certain consonants (esp. at the end of a word), such as that produced when voicing accompanies a release of air.
