Investigations of Ni-Cu ores from Katanga, Carrol County in Maryland and So. Wisconsin..where low temperature mineralizations are supposed to have occurred, failed to produce a new villamaninite locality.

1977 Mineral. Abstr. XXVIII. 205/1 Villamaninite breaks down to α-NiS, carrollite (CuCo₂S₄), and some Ni and Co sulphates at around 400°C.
