Etymology: Shortened < the plural of vocal n. (frequently as a graphic abbreviation), probably punningly after classical Latin vōx voice n.
Music. colloquial.
With plural agreement. In popular music, esp. rock: vocals, voice. Cf. vocal n. 4b.
